Prototype Development Engineer – Inspired by MythBusters

Seeking a creative and innovative Prototype Engineer to develop groundbreaking prototypes. It is ideal for those passionate about blending science with unconventional creativity, akin to the approach seen in "MythBusters."
As a Prototype Development Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in transforming conceptual ideas into tangible prototypes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams within the R&D department to bring innovation to life and connect with the Product Development team to make later transfer of successful inventions into products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering and a great understanding of physical and chemical phenomena or similar fields, a passion for creating prototypes, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, creative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prototype Development: Design and fabricate prototypes based on conceptual ideas, ensuring that they meet functional and performance requirements.
- Collaboration with R&D, Applications, and Product Teams: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and industrial designers, to integrate mechanical components into comprehensive product designs.
- Conduct thorough analysis and testing of prototypes to validate design concepts and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with suppliers to select appropriate materials for prototypes, considering cost, durability, and manufacturability.
- Create detailed documentation of the prototype development process, including design specifications, test plans, and results.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, providing insights and recommendations for improving prototype development processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)
- Proven experience in prototype development, preferably in a collaborative R&D environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other relevant engineering tools.
- Good skills in electronics prototyping, different mechanical, vacuum, gas line, and 3D printing systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
