Are you looking for a challenging and impactful role where you will be able to use your experience working with EU institutions and/or private foundations to help strengthen the work of Save Children globally?

Save the Children is one of the world’s leading child rights-based organizations and we are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Institutional Partnership Advisor with a proven track record when it comes to engaging strategically and effectively with institutional donors and Danish private foundations.

The Senior Institutional Partnership Advisor is part of our Middle East and Eastern Europe team (MENAEE) and advises across the department and collaborates closely with colleagues across the Save the Children Alliance and within the house.

YOU WILL

  • Work strategically with our key donors including the EU and particularly develop our engagement with large private foundations in order to increase funding and maximise policy influencing.
  • Lead on the strategic engagement with key donors and financial partners. You will ensure that relationships with assigned donors are further developed and strengthened, both at HQ level and with the country representations in our countries of operation.
  • Be responsible for capturing, analysing and disseminating information concerning funding and policy trends internally within Save the Children Denmark and to our priority country offices.
  • Advise the MENAEE and Asia teams and the department and serve as Save the Children Denmark’s donor focal point internally and externally for selected donors.
  • Be part of a regional team but also work closely with the team of institutional partnership advisors and contribute to the department as a whole while being supported by an account officer and a student assistant.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Institutional Partnership Advisor ensures that Save the Children Denmark identifies and utilizes all relevant funding opportunities with institutional donors and private foundations in a strategic and coordinated manner and ensures that relationships with key institutional donors and private foundations are developed, maintained, and strengthened.

The responsibilities include iamong other things the following:

  • Investigate the donor environment, funding policies and trends to allow the department's forward planning and the influencing of donors’ funding priorities.
  • Lead the development of new partnerships with Danish foundations as well as negotiations with donors on specific funding and contract formulations.
  • Ensure that Save the Children country offices in priority countries strengthen their donor relations capacities and support them in their relations with EU donor agencies in the countries of implementation. Lead relations with EU donors at HQ level when relevant.
  • Analyse successes and rejections of submitted funding proposals for the MENAEE team and department to learn and improve.

­­YOUR PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL PROFILE
The relevant candidate has a Master level university education in a relevant area of study or similar qualifications. In addition, we expect that you have the following experience and competencies and have successfully applied them for at least a decade:

  • Experience working with Danish foundations and private-sector funding.
  • Experience working with EU institutions, mainly INTPA/NEAR and ECHO.
  • Detailed understanding of institutional donors’ political priorities for their funding allocations and how such priorities can be influenced.
  • Good understanding of donor funding systems, methods, guidelines, and contract compliance, including how to negotiate these.
  • Understanding of the specific needs and rights of children in fragile states and emergency situations, and of Save the Children’s thematic focus areas.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English and preferably also in Danish.
  • Interest in or experience from the MENA region will be an advantage

In addition to the above, you are a natural communicator with strong networking skills and can convey complex issues with clarity and brevity. You find it motivating to build new, fruitful working relationships and you excel at delivering tailored, influential advice to internal and external audiences. You are a self-driven, problem solver, and take effective decisions you are prepared to account for - based on full evaluation of the opportunities and risks, and by keeping in touch with external trends and their potential impact on strategic choices.

TERMS & RECRUITMENT PROCES
You will be employed according to the terms and conditions of the local collective agreement between Red Barnet (Save the Children Denmark) and the relevant unions. You will work 37 hours per week. Travel may be required 2-3 weeks annually.
