Description
As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Siteimprove, you will play a key role in leading the direction of the DevOps capabilities and make a significant impact in the maturity of our AWS environment. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the design and implementation of our platform infrastructure as we level up the maturity of our platform. You will collaborate closely with software engineering teams to ensure seamless deployment and operation of services, and you will be instrumental in driving continuous improvement and modernization efforts within the team. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop a modernized platform driving a large migration of workloads from a self-managed Kubernetes cluster to EKS.
What you will be doing
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable AWS infrastructure for our SaaS platform.
- Supporting a team of DevOps engineers, providing guidance and mentorship to more junior developers.
- Collaborate with software engineering teams to ensure smooth deployment and operation of services.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.
- Ensure compliance with security best practices and industry standards (ISO27001).
- Deliver strategic initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with established goals.
- Assist in the development of strategic plans for the DevOps team, aligning with the overall business objectives.
- Respond to incidents as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What we will require of you
- 5+ years experience in a DevOps role
- Strong experience with AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, CloudFormation and EKS
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes, EKS, service mesh, and related concepts
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform or similar tools.
- Experience of tooling such as ArgoCD, Helm, and Jenkins
- Hands-on experience with Jira for project management and Agile methodologies.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (e.g., VPC, subnetting, routing).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Experience in assisting in the development and delivery of strategic plans.
- Experience providing feedback to leadership on strategic initiatives.
What we will love about you
- Proven track record of deploying and managing large Kubernetes clusters.
- Experience in migrating from self-managed Kubernetes to EKS.
- Experience in driving architectural changes and modernization efforts, including the adoption of new technologies and best practices.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and experience in integrating DevOps practices into the SDLC.
- Knowledge of serverless computing and experience in leveraging serverless technologies, such as AWS Lambda, for cost-effective and scalable solutions.
- Familiarity with AWS's Well-Architected Framework and best practices.
- The ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
