Your team You will be part of the Digital Content Team in the Newsroom Division of the Directorate General Communications. Our Directorate General has around 250 staff responsible for informing the public and the media about the ECB’s tasks, mission and organisation. We are currently working on new ways to engage with the general public more effectively and gain a better understanding of their views.

In your role as a Digital Communications Specialist, you will be part of a team of five staff members who create our digital content and manage our social media channels with a focus on communicating the ECB’s key messages. You will work closely with colleagues from many different areas of the ECB, including the President’s office and press officers.

Your role As a Digital Communications Specialist you will:

  • manage institutional and personal social media accounts;
  • prepare digital content aimed at various audiences for publication on the ECB’s website and social media channels on the subjects of central banking and banking supervision;
  • think of creative and innovative ways to boost followership;
  • interact with people from across the ECB to cover events and publications, focusing on communicating our key messages;
  • contribute to visual communication efforts (e.g. photography, video and digital design) as needed;
  • use data to improve our digital communications strategy, incorporating the latest findings from the analytics team into your daily work;
  • remain up to date with the latest trends and technologies in digital communications.

Qualifications, experience and skills Essential:

  • a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communications, economics, political science, international relations or another relevant field (see How you can join us for details on degree equivalences);
  • in addition to the above, a minimum of three years’ experience in communications, including in creating digital content;
  • excellent communication, drafting and presentation skills;
  • proven experience in managing institutional social media accounts;
  • a very good understanding of digital communications, including current trends;
  • a track record of creating successful social media posts on financial topics aimed at different audiences;
  • proven stakeholder management skills, including the ability to present ideas to people at managerial level;
  • an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Desired:

  • proven knowledge of photo and video editing software;
  • the ability to insert captions/subtitles and create videos compatible with mobile devices would be a major asset;
  • experience in creating social media content for high-profile individuals.

Working modalities Readiness to participate in a weekend on-call system and to work regularly outside standard working hours is part of the role.

We are willing to discuss part-time arrangements for this role.

Further information The contract offered will be fixed term, the appointment being until May 2027.

Temporary appointments may be extended or made permanent subject to organisational needs and budgetary constraints. This may result in a staff member with a non-convertible fixed-term contract being offered a convertible contract in accordance with the ECB Conditions of Employment.
