Skilled hearing researcher to Widex research laboratory ORCA Europe
ORCA Europe has a vacancy for a researcher with a PhD in audiology, hearing science, engineering, human science or a similar subject. You will be part of a research team focusing on hearing solutions for people with hearing impairment. You will conduct applied hearing research and communicate the results. The office is in Stockholm, Sweden.

Widex A/S is a Danish hearing-aid manufacturer. Widex has an external research laboratory, ORCA Europe in Stockholm. ORCA Europe is part of Widex’ Global Research and Development, Audiology department. The group works with test method development (currently with a particular focus on real-life benefit) and undertakes research projects in the areas of hearing-aid performance and auditory ecology. The research is carried out both at the premises in Stockholm, Sweden, where our modern research laboratory is located, and in collaboration with hearing clinics and research groups in Sweden and abroad. We are now seeking a highly motivated and talented researcher for fun challenges in our research group.

Job description
The position will be permanent and full-time after a 6-month probationary period. ORCA Europe is a small research group, which means that everyone has a number of duties.

For the current position, the key responsibilities are listed below:

  • Design research projects (clinical trials and other experiments)
  • Analyze data using statistics and appropriate visualization methods
  • Write reports and articles, for both scientific and popular scientific journals
  • Present at research conferences, nationally and internationally

We welcome applications from candidates with a PhD in audiology, hearing science, engineering, human sciences or a related discipline. It will be advantageous to have post-doctoral experience managing research studies including human test participants.

It is vital that the applicant is very strong in research design and statistics and has excellent command of English (both written and spoken). A willingness to learn Swedish is a requirement. Good social skills are necessary. The applicant needs to have a good ability to work both independently and as a part of a team. A practical knack and knowledge in sound engineering and/or hearing-aid fitting is beneficial. Also, programming skills (matlab, python or similar) are beneficial.
