Join Our Innovative CarboCell project

DTU Health Tech is seeking a formulation chemist to contribute to an exciting local depot formulation technology, CarboCell, e.g. for delivery of antibiotics aimed at local infection treatment. This role is a unique blend of scientific research and commercial venture, involving work on patented technologies and a strategy for sustained release of small molecule-based therapies. You will play a key role in evolving our research into a successful spin-out company.

The job
The primary objective of this position is to drive innovation in infectious therapy through the development of advanced drug delivery systems. The role focuses on formulating and optimizing small molecule based therapies for infection, using patented CarboCell technologies from DTU. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in bridging scientific research and commercial application, contributing significantly to both the technical advancement of antibiotic therapies and the strategic development of a new spin-out company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize formulations for delivery of antibiotics and other small molecules.
  • Design, conduct, and analyze experiments to advance our scientific objectives.
  • Work collaboratively within a small, interdisciplinary team.
  • Engage in external research collaborations to strengthen your competencies in therapies for infection.
  • Participate in the commercialization process of our developed therapies.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • Experience in formulation chemistry and drug delivery systems. Knowledge of depot technologies is considered an advantage.
  • Experience with antibiotics or small molecules for infection therapy is an advantage.
  • Experience with analytical methods such as HPLC, DLS, fluorescence spectroscopy and MS techniques is preferred.
  • Prior involvement in commercial projects or startups is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, suited for a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in conducting in vitro and in vivo optimization studies of novel CarboCell therapies, including development of analytical methods for stability studies as well as biodistribution studies.

Salary and appointment terms
Salary and employment terms are according to the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) or other relevant agreement. Expected starting date: 1 July 2024.

The position is a project position concerning “Development of CarboCell technology for delivery of antibiotics and small molecule therapies for treatment of localized infections”, and the end date will therefore be open, but the position will terminate with the project. The project is expected to last at least 1.5 year, but we will continuously be in touch concerning the process of the project.

You will be employed at DTU Health technology, and the workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus, Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark.
