We're looking for a Backend Developer to join our Developer Experience Team, dedicated to building and enhancing tools and APIs that streamline the development process for developers.

About the team

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our Developer Experience Team, with a primary focus on backend development. You will work closely with experienced developers to build and maintain backend systems, including helping modernize legacy systems. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our developer tools to facilitate seamless integration with the Issuu infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Backend Development: Collaborate with senior developers to design, develop, and maintain backend systems and APIs that enhance the Issuu developer experience, focusing on simplicity, efficiency, and reliability.
• API Design and Documentation: Contribute to the design and documentation of APIs, ensuring clarity, consistency, and ease of use for developers integrating with the Issuu Infrastructure.
• Developer Tools: Build and improve developer tools, libraries, and SDKs that streamline the integration process and provide developers with helpful resources and guidance.
• Testing and Quality Assurance: Write unit tests and participate in code reviews to ensure the quality, reliability, and security of backend systems and developer tools.
• Issue Resolution: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues reported by developers, providing timely and effective solutions and support.
• Performance Optimization: Identify opportunities to optimize the performance and efficiency of backend systems and APIs, implementing enhancements to improve speed, scalability, and resource utilization.
• Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in backend development and developer experience, actively seeking opportunities to expand your skills and knowledge.

What You Bring With you:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience (2+ years) in building robust, high-volume production systems
• Proficiency in at least one backend programming language, such as Python, or Rust.
• Experience working with legacy systems and the ability to navigate and maintain them effectively.
• Familiarity with database technologies, version control systems (e.g., Git), and development tools (e.g., IDEs, CLI).
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to learn and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
• Effective communication and collaboration abilities, with a passion for teamwork and knowledge sharing.
