Terma A/S

Kickstart your career and seize the unique opportunity to become an intern at the aerospace giant Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, Texas, or Atlanta, Georgia, from January to June 2025.
In collaboration with Lockheed Martin, we are offering you the opportunity to work on the world's most advanced fighter jet, the F-35 Lightning II. During the internship, you will develop your engineering skills, expand your toolbox, and gain valuable practical engineering experience.

Three types of engineering internship positions at Lockheed Martin
We offer three different internship opportunities described below. We kindly ask you to mention the one(s) you are primarily interested in and qualified for when applying.

The internships run from January 13th, 2025, to June 5th, 2025, and they are paid.

An important prerequisite for all positions is that you, as an individual, are a self-starter with a keen sense of how to bring value to the areas you support. Additionally, you are assertive yet confident enough to seek assistance when unsure of the next step.

Please note that enrollment at a Danish university and studying for a Master's degree at the time of the internship are prerequisites for all of the positions.
Option 1: Quality Engineering internship
Support F-35’s Fabrication, Wing, and Mate Build areas and seize the chance to work with quality improvement projects alongside Quality Engineers and Inspectors.

You will interact directly with Manufacturing Engineers and Assembly Line Workers while in this role. During the internship you will engage other organizational disciplines to ensure that assigned tasks/projects are progressing as desired. The position involves daily direct interactions with Lockheed Martin personnel across the Build areas.

In this position you will cover responsibilities within the following:

  • Help identify root causes and associated corrective actions and participate/collaborate with the engineering counterparts on program activities to assure processes and products are compliant to contractual requirements.
  • Perform in-process inspections of production assemblies using engineering drawings and manufacturing work instructions.
  • Evaluate process/product performance using Product Build Surveillance (PBS) protocol
  • Make production data more accessible with the use of programming and analytical skills.
  • Brief senior leadership on the status and results of their projects.

The location for this internship is Fort Worth, Texas.

Option 2: Manufacturing Simulation & Modeling
You will be working within the Data Science and Applications Engineering disciplines. More specifically, you will be developing neural networks for automated inspection, defect identification, and defect classification.

As a member of the Manufacturing Simulation & Modeling team, you will be involved in projects focused on implementing autonomous, robotic, and/or manually controlled technologies for use in performing inspections of F-35 aircraft within production and sustainment environments.

In this internship your tasks may include the following:

  • Programming and Application/Software Development using various programming tools (MatLab, Python, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, C+, Arduino, Pixy, iOS, and/or Unix)
  • Being a creative problem-solver, always with the proper respect for our products and high level of quality
  • Creating Convolutional Neural Networking
  • 3D modeling to which experience with modeling programs such as CATIA, CREO, Pro-E, or NX will be perceived as an advantage
  • Light project management of own projects, - always in close collaboration with your colleagues and with the opportunity to receive sparring on various aspects.

Excellent communication skills, motivation, and a team-oriented attitude are all requirements in this position since you will be working with the different teams to investigate their specific needs and translate these into requirements for the various opportunities.

The location for this internship is Fort Worth, Texas.

Option 3: Production Continuous Improvement internship
Seize the chance to work with quality and continuous improvement projects in a cross functional team. More specifically, you will support the Center Wing build areas and get the opportunity to work on program level quality projects.

In this position you will cover responsibilities within the following:

  • Complete process capability and performance analysis to identify potential sources of variation.
  • Devise and implement methods and procedures for improving, testing and evaluating production processes.
  • Make data more accessible with the use of programming and analytical skills.
  • Assist with audits in manufacturing build areas.
  • Specialize in the areas of design, product evaluation and reliability, and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
  • Be certified in lean and six-sigma methodologies.
  • Be knowledgeable and able to provide qualified feedback on LEAN and Six-Sigma methodologies.
  • Brief senior leadership on the status and results of their projects on an ongoing basis.

The location for this internship is Atlanta, Georgia.
