Senior Process Engineer

Seaborg Technologies

Senior Process Engineer

Design processes for the future of energy with global experts
At Seaborg Technologies we are developing a nuclear power plant concept fundamentally different from what exists today. By bringing to market an advanced and innovative molten salt reactor technology we are making nuclear an inexpensive, sustainable, and safe technology that can out-compete fossil fuels and revolutionise energy markets. The opportunity to make an impact on climate change and provide billions of people with cheap and accessible energy is what motivates all of us every day.

Creating an innovation that can impact the world isn’t easy and it requires a truly diverse group of people with the best of what humanity can offer. We know that we cannot do this alone, so we work closely with regulators, shipyards, academic institutions, and the nuclear industry all over the world to develop and identify needed technologies and materials so we can produce an advanced floating nuclear power plant.

This is your chance to become part of a collaborative research environment where you can chart an uncommonly diverse career and help change the world.

The start-up environment allows for great influence, the possibility to take on responsibility and grow but also demands flexibility.

THE ROLE
We are looking for a Senior Process Engineer who will be responsible for the process design of systems used in our Compact Molten Salt Reactor. You will be an integral part of the Engineering department and will interface and collaborate with teams of physicists, engineers, and chemists, both internally as well as externally with technical partners, sub-suppliers, and regulatory stakeholders.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify, analyse and effectively apply regulatory criteria and standards to complex process designs.
  • Produce and review technical design documents, such as System Design Descriptions, Equipment Sizing Reports, Data Sheets, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), etc.
  • Produce and review process design calculations including Heat Mass balances and hydraulic calculations.
  • Perform and review process simulations of systems.
  • Ensure compliance, manufacturability, and compatibility of compact molten salt reactor systems, continuously and iteratively revisiting requirements, interfaces, drawing annotations, etc.
  • Participate in planning efforts and maintain a schedule for design activities.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines such as mechanical design, instrumentation & controls, and neutronics to identify and/or develop equipment design information and specifications.

MUST HAVE PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES

  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, process engineering or similar.
  • You have at 5+ years of experience working on process systems.
  • You have experience with chemical process software such as HYSYS.

PERSONAL COMPETENCIES

  • You are a team player and able to interact with, listen to, and understand specialists and managers in a wide variety of technical disciplines. Seaborg’s success depends on our ability to work together.
  • You are motivated and curious to learn about new topics and perform new tasks related to the advanced nuclear design industry.
  • You creatively approach and overcome process design problems, while retaining motivation over multiple iterations of the same design.
  • You are capable and willing to speak up and raise opinions, especially about potential pitfalls, and concerns, but also commit to decisions.
  • You have a patient demeanor with a willingness to explain, justify, negotiate, and provide guidance, also in times of stress.
  • Driven to take on responsibility and to establish and develop the process engineering discipline within Seaborg proactively and sometimes independently.
  • You have a strong attention to detail and quality. A finisher at heart.
  • Committed to contributing to the overall success of Seaborg.

WHAT WE OFFER
